Grooming
Keeping your Australian Labradoodle groomed is important to their health & happiness. We recommend a professional grooming every 6-8 weeks (or every 4 weeks if you’re determined to keep their hair longer).
If you’re local to the DC area, our favorite groomer is Bone Jour in Bethesda, MD. If you’re not or you would prefer to use another groomer, here is a link to a video to share with your groomer on the proper Australian Labradoodle haircut.
Nutrition
All of our adult dogs are fed a pre-made raw diet, the Premium Mix from BJ’s Raw Pet Food. Their food can be ordered on their website or you can pick it up locally at their farm in Lancaster, PA. If you order from their website, make sure to use our code of DCLABRADOODLES for 25% off your first order! Some other brands of raw pet food (including freeze dried raw) we like are OC Raw, Bixbi, Solutions, Green Juju, and Steve’s. Our puppies are fed a mix of BJ’s Raw and Bixbi kibble. For kibble, we recommend Bixbi (either the Liberty or the Rawbble). This food can be ordered on their website, and you can receive 20% off your first order with the code ‘tasteofbixbi’. If you’d like to place a recurring order, let us know and we can provide you with a code for 10% off. All of our puppies go home with a starter kit from Bixbi, which contains a 4lb bag of Bixbi Liberty Puppy, two cans of their wet food, and a bag of treats!
Health Insurance
We strongly recommend getting pet insurance for your puppy. While it can also be effective to put the money you would spend on health insurance into a savings account for emergencies, you never know how much will be in that account when you actually have an emergency. Enrolling in pet insurance when your puppy is young keeps the cost down, and also ensures that finances will never play a role in medical decisions for your pet. For health insurance, we recommend Trupanion and all of our puppies go home with one month of Trupanion insurance for free.
